You got through your Tuesday. The train was late, the meeting ran long, and now you want a drink and a booth and somebody to complain to. Westchester has options.
This is not a list of every bar in the county. It is the spots where happy hour is worth rearranging your evening for — good drinks, fair prices, and a vibe that does not require you to shout over EDM at 5:30 PM.
The best happy hours in Westchester County include The Birdsall House in Peekskill, Pubstreet in Dobbs Ferry, Lazy Boy Saloon and Ron Blacks Beer Hall in White Plains, and X2O Xaviars on the Hudson in Yonkers.
The Rivertowns
The Birdsall House, Peekskill
Draft beer on tap, whiskey list that goes deep, and a backyard patio that stays open into October. Happy hour runs weekdays and the prices are honest. If you like your bar to feel like a living room with better beer, this is it.
Pubstreet, Dobbs Ferry
Cocktails are the thing here. The menu rotates and they take it seriously without being precious about it. No reservation needed for the bar, and it fills up after 6 so get there early if you want a seat.
Hudson Farmer & The Fish, Sleepy Hollow
Farm-to-table during dinner, but happy hour is more casual. Wine by the glass, a few small plates, and a waterfront view that earns the markup. Best on a weekday when the weekend crowd is not there.
Faccia Luna, Tarrytown
Italian wine bar energy without the Manhattan prices. They do wine flights and the pasta is solid if happy hour turns into dinner, which it usually does.
White Plains and surroundings
The Westchester, White Plains
Rooftop bar situation. Seasonal cocktails, decent food menu, and the view is surprisingly good for a building next to a mall. Gets crowded on Thursdays and Fridays.
Ron Blacks Beer Hall, White Plains
German beer hall vibes, long tables, and a beer list that will keep you occupied. Happy hour specials are straightforward — discounted drafts and bar bites. Good for groups.
Lazy Boy Saloon, White Plains
Divey in the right way. Cheap drinks, no pretense, and everyone is there because they want to be, not because someone tagged it on Instagram. If you want happy hour without a dress code or a craft cocktail essay on the menu, this is the spot.
South County and Yonkers
X2O Xaviars on the Hudson, Yonkers
The dining room is a special occasion, but the bar is more accessible than people think. Cocktails are excellent and the Hudson River views from the Yonkers Pier are unmatched. Go at sunset.
Guapo, Yonkers
Mexican spot on South Broadway with strong margaritas and a happy hour that runs generous. The tacos are good and the prices stay reasonable.
North County
Iron Horse Grill, Pleasantville
Neighborhood bar that has been around long enough to earn loyalty. Solid beer selection, decent pub food, and a crowd that skews local. Happy hour specials on weekdays.
Kittle House, Chappaqua
Wine list is the draw here. The restaurant is upscale but the bar area is more relaxed. Good for a glass of wine and a conversation without feeling like you need to order a three-course meal.

Tips for happy hour in Westchester
- Weekdays are the move. Friday happy hours in the popular spots are basically dinner crowds.
- Most places run happy hour from 4 or 5 PM until 6 or 7. A few go later on slower nights like Monday and Tuesday.
- If you are driving, plan accordingly. The county is spread out and an Uber from Peekskill to White Plains is not cheap.
- Check if the restaurant has a separate bar menu. Some of the nicer spots have bar-only pricing that is significantly better than the dining room.
- Group of four or more? Call ahead. Most of these spots are smaller and a table for five during happy hour is not guaranteed.
Go with people
The best happy hour is the one where you are not going alone. Club West runs happy hours across the county with members — different spots, different towns, regular programming. If your current happy hour crew is your couch and a glass of wine (no judgment), it might be worth meeting some new people.
